Acceptable use policy

Part of the Terms of use. Mostly common sense; written down so everybody knows where the line is.

In short

  • Run lawful events and treat registrants' data as theirs.
  • Message only people who registered with you, about the event they registered for, with a way to opt out.
  • Do not probe security except through responsible disclosure; do not try to reach another organization's data.
  • We suspend first only when there is harm in progress; otherwise we tell you and give you time to fix it.

Contents

1. Prohibited uses

  • Events or content that are unlawful, that promote violence or hatred, or that infringe others' rights.
  • Collecting personal data you have no lawful basis to collect, or using registrants' data for purposes they were not told about.
  • Unsolicited bulk messaging. Scheduled and ad-hoc messages go only to people who registered, about their event; every message carries an opt-out which must be honoured.
  • Attempting to access, probe or disrupt the service, other organizations' workspaces, or the scanner protocol, except under responsible disclosure.
  • Reselling the service, or sharing an account between people, without an agreement that allows it.
  • Uploading malware, or content that is sexually explicit, or that depicts minors inappropriately.
  • Impersonating another organization or person in event pages, emails or branding.

2. Messaging specifics

Sending from your own domain requires the DNS records that prove you control it. Text messages require a verified number and respect carrier rules; opt-outs are enforced by the service and cannot be overridden. Complaint rates that threaten deliverability for other customers may lead us to pause your sending while we talk to you.

3. Data specifics

Ask registrants only what the event needs. Medical, dietary and access information should reach only the people who need it to look after someone — the templates route it that way. Honour deletion requests promptly; the admin gives you the tools.

4. What we do when something is reported

We review reports promptly. Where there is harm in progress — ongoing spam, an attack, unlawful content — we may suspend first and explain after. Otherwise we tell the Owner what we found and give reasonable time to fix it. Repeated or serious breaches may lead us to close the workspace under the Terms of use; data remains exportable for 30 days unless the law prevents it.

5. Reporting abuse

Email [email protected] with the event address or message concerned. We acknowledge within two business days.
